About Me

Hailing from London, UK, genre-defying recording artist and singer/songwriter Noel DaCosta is
making waves with his unique blend of soulful and silky-smooth vocals.
Born into a lively Jamaican household in North London, DaCosta had an eclectic musical
childhood, with his parents’ differing music tastes exposing him to reggae, rock, country and
everything in between. From a very young age, DaCosta would dance and sing for his family
and friends at parties. His father recalls how whenever the song ‘Jim Dandy’ by Levern Barker
was played, a one year-old DaCosta would start dancing uninhibitedly to the music.
Noel DaCosta’s musicality developed in his school years; writing songs for his own enjoyment.
At the age of 14, DaCosta met a young producer of the same age, Karl Hinds. Amazed by the
music that Hinds was making at such a young age, DaCosta persuaded him to help him record
his first song. Although the song was never commercially released, it became a well-known
track in his high school and this first taste of the music business infatuated DeCosta. Unknown
to them both at the time, Hinds would go on to be a successful rapper and music industry figure.
Throughout his teenage years, DaCosta worked with various bedroom producers to make his
music into physical form and made friends with freestyle rappers who shared his love of lyricism
and music. DaCosta would sing freestyle instead of rap- much to the awe of his friends. This led
to DaCosta joining a local rap group alongside future UK garage star MC Remedy, where he
would write hooks for rappers and tour all over the UK, performing at legendary venues and big
events such as Tottenham Carnival alongside British artist Keke Le Roc.
DaCosta got his first taste of commercial success as the winner of TwiceAsNice competition
under his previous alias ‘Jay-R’. As a prize, DaCosta’s winning track was released on a
Universal Music compilation alongside huge industry names such as 50 Cent and Ne-Yo. This
success inspired DaCosta’s desire to perform live so he joined two soul cover bands as the lead
singer and he still performs with these bands at festivals to this day.
As a solo artist, Noel DaCosta has a portfolio of sensational live performances. Most notably, a
performance of his EDM track ‘Love Is In The House’ at the world-famous Notting Hill Carnival
to tens of thousands of people, sharing the stage with Garage artist Egypt. DaCosta also
founded the band ‘B Sharp’ in 201, who shared the stage with British Soul Singer Omar at
Camden’s UnderSolo Bar as well as playing a sold out show at Camden’s legendary ‘Jazz
Noel DaCosta’s debut EP ‘The Soul Man From the Endz’ has been championed by the likes of
BBC Introducing and has received wide support in the UK. DaCosta’s 2019 single ‘Tops Down’
was released through UK label ‘Street RoyalTee Music’ and has accumulated over 30,000
streams on Spotify. Writing credits include ‘Really Love Jamaica’, a track written for and
performed by reggae legend Sanchez, and various jingles for DJ and radio stations both in the
UK and internationally.
Noel DaCosta hopes to continue to perform around the world to touch new audiences with his
music and looks forward to working on more EDM and pop tracks. The future for Noel DaCosta
looks bright, with his new single ‘Fight The Feeling’ released in early December 2020 through
Captum Records.
